Hi! I'm Aleksandra

As a kid, I had this dream of becoming a painter when I grow up. But well, I never took it seriously, not until now.
I first earned a degree in Law, then one in Graphic Design. Over the past decade, I’ve worked in the fields of visual communication, 2D and 3D animation, VR — constantly expanding my skillset to keep up with the industry.

Over time, I began to feel overwhelmed by the digital world. I missed the tactile, the linear and simple processes, the limited possibilities. That’s when I started swapping screen for paper — I came back* to the modest, grounding art of watercolors. Simple, and yet demanding lots of patience, trial and error. Mindfulness and presence.

It felt like coming home.

*The whole story of my watercolor painting began years ago, when I would use it as a go-to solution for a birthday card or a last-minute present. My grandma still keeps the collection of these occasional paintings as a family treasures.

The essence of watercolor lies in the unpredictability. Its charm is in how the colors spread freely on damp paper, blending organically — if you simply let them. And only with a light hand can you draw truly delicate lines.

Perhaps the hardest part is finding a balance between precision and letting go — between what’s intended and the beauty of the incidents. That balance comes from intuition, and intuition depends on trust — in the process, and in myself. When that trust breaks, it’s like losing access to the source — there is no magic, no flow.

Maybe that tension is present in any creative process (or really, anything we do). What I love about watercolors is how openly they invite us into that discomfort — how they help us work with the fear of failure and imperfection, but on a small, safe scale. (A perfect playground!)

The process is all about us meeting our insecurities, feeling joy and frustration — sometimes both within seconds — and occasionally finding an unexpected opportunity in what felt like a failure. Staying close to our emotions, not ignoring them in pursuit of perfection.

I see watercolor paintings as the calm witnesses to that process, carrying signs of all the little steps taken on the journey inwards.

I really like sharing this experience, and that’s also why I also started hosting watercolor workshops. It’s a time for playful experiments, mindfulness, opening up to the awe of the unexpected. More information under the Workshops tab.

The process of painting is all about us — being present and focused.
